Dear Friends,

Each year I am moved again by the special project for youth, I am You are. This program brings to Cinematheque young people, Arabs and Jews, who each summer fill the building with another kind of activity full of passion, creativity and a different energy -- the energy of young people who want peace and are prepared to come toward each other rather than move further apart.

I am delighted that it is film that is bringing them together as a positive and educational force in their lives. The Cinematheque is happy and proud to provide a supportive home to the people who are prepared to make a difference in our lives here.

Sincerely yours,

Lia van Leer

Dear Friends,

The Jerusalem Foundation has initiated and supported many projects over the years but the special program established by the Jerusalem Cinematheque, I am You are, has made a real difference in changing people's lives.

The young Jewish and Arab graduates of this program serve as good will ambassadors to their friends and family and are a real life demonstration of what can be accomplished thorough respect and shared goals. Their mutual exploration of identity encourages all those they come into contact with to look at themselves again and to relate to the "other" with more understanding and tolerance.

Since this program began in 1998, hundreds of young people and their families and friends have benefited from this experience and made their contribution to living together in Jerusalem.

True coexistence is built slowly, carefully, over time and I am You are is making its contribution to a better future for Jerusalem, year after year.

Gratefully yours,

Ruth Cheshin
